The RGP Marine Section has an operational capability composed of a variety of vessels capable of reaching excessive speeds. Its main role is the enforcement of Gibraltar Laws in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters, particularly in the fight against drug smuggling and protective security patrols.
The Marine Section works closely with both local and international Law Enforcement Agencies and additionally, they provide support to the Environmental Agency who are charged with enforcing matters regarding the Nature Protection Act and illicit fishing activity in particular.
Marine police officers are trained to high standards with external accreditation such as the Gibraltar Maritime Administration. Their training and their wealth of experience equip these officers to handle adversity at sea in a wide range of different scenarios. Working as part of the Marine Section team is vastly challenging and immensely rewarding.
