A number of Royal Gibraltar Police officers will be policing this afternoon’s protest against the “new pollution levy” at Casemates Square.
The event starts at 5pm and police officers will be on hand to help keep members of the public safe – which is our main concern.
We’d like to remind organisers that under the Crimes Act 2011, the RGP need at least six days warning beforehand, if the organisers intend to move from one location to another as part of the demonstration.
Failure to give notice of the demonstration moving from one location to another, may constitute a criminal offence for organisers.
They may be liable for the consequences when things go wrong, particularly if there are issues in the control of an event.
That said, we would like to reiterate that keeping everyone safe this afternoon is our priority and we ask for the public’s help in achieving this.
