A man who was caught drink driving in the city centre one afternoon has been banned from driving for two years.
Pedro Abilio De Sousa Lima, 47, of Cannon Lane, pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court today to a charge of Driving a Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Concentration over the Prescribed Limit and was also sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work.
The court heard that just after 4pm on Tuesday the 17th of September, Response Team officers were on foot patrol in John Mackintosh Square when the Portuguese national was spotted driving an Aston Martin left into the square from Line Wall Road – ignoring a no entry sign.
Officers stopped the car and noticed an open can of alcoholic drink within the vehicle and a strong smell of alcoholic drink coming from De Sousa Lima.
He was then asked to provide a sample on a road side breath test, which came back at 119ug – the legal limit is 35ug.
After being arrested he stated he had drank “two pints in the morning.”
Later at New Mole House Police Station, he blew 108ug on the evidential breath test machine.
