A local man was arrested this afternoon for a number of driving offences following an incident on Europa Road yesterday.
The incident happened just before 11am, when traffic officers conducting speed checks spotted the 36-year-old man riding a motorcycle at excessive speed and heading north on Europa Road.
On requesting him to stop, the man carried on driving, narrowly missing an officer who had to jump out of the way of the vehicle.
The motorcycle was later found abandoned further down the road and was seized by police.
Following an investigation by the Roads Policing Unit, the man was found at an address in the Upper Town today and arrested on suspicion of:
• Taking a Conveyance without Authority (Aggravated)
• Dangerous Driving
• Excess Speed
• Failing to Stop
• No Insurance
• No Driving Licence
