It’s certainly a marriage proposal that she will never forget.

Police Constable Jesse Segui had been wondering how to propose to his long-term girlfriend Amy Catania for a while, when he thought of the perfect plan – Operation Ring.

Using family members and police colleagues who had been briefed about his cunning plan, the unsuspecting Amy would be driven to the police station under the guise of an unresolved parking ticket, where the dramatic marriage proposal would be staged.

On the day in question, Amy arrived at New Mole House, where the mysterious case of the unresolved parking ticket was put to her by the Custody Sergeant.

And it was at this point that Jesse, clutching a ring, appeared and dropped to one knee, to ask for Amy’s hand in marriage.

Jesse, 22, who has worked as a police officer for three years as a Response Team officer, said: “The plan worked really well, she didn’t see it coming.

“I’m very grateful to my colleagues Sgt Fortunato and PC Benhakim for getting involved and to the Commissioner for letting me propose at the police station and letting some family members watch.

“I’m glad she said yes!”
