46 year old Spanish national, Fabian SANCHEZ VEGA, arrested last Tuesday afternoon on the strength of a European Arrest Warrant (EAW), following an RGP operation in support of a broader Guardia Civil operation in Spain, has appeared before the Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
In his appearance in Court SANCHEZ VEGA did not contest the EAW and the Magistrates’ Court has ordered his extradition. The Spanish authorities have been notified and under EAW provisions they now have ten days in which to make the necessary arrangements to receive him into their custody.
SANCHEZ VEGA is wanted by the Spanish authorities for alleged offences committed in Spain in 2018, relating to:
It is understood that under Spanish law SANCHEZ VEGA is liable on conviction to a maximum term of 28 years and 6 months imprisonment.
The Commissioner of Police, Ian McGrail, has expressed his delight at the outcome and, in particular, to the excellent cooperation that has existed between the RGP and the Guardia Civil to bring SANCHEZ VEGA to justice.
