Supreme Court confiscates proceeds of money laundering

A 38-year-old British Citizen, Otman LAMROUSSI, appeared before the Supreme Court today for sentencing after having pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering and one count of false accounting on July 16th 2018.

LAMROUSSI was arrested on September 2nd last year after having created fraudulent payslips in order to prove source of funds at a local financial institution and launder the proceeds of his illicit tobacco activity.

The Honourable Chief Justice sentenced LAMROUSSI to 240 hours community work and ordered the confiscation of £46,928.59 to be payable before October 5th 2018.

This is part of the continuing work of the RGP’s Money Laundering Investigation Unit to confiscate the proceeds from persons convicted of criminal offences and ensure their return to the public exchequer.

The Money Laundering Investigation Unit will continue to pursue and remove criminal assets wherever it can.
